After months of purchasing this Janey Dress Pattern by Sew Sweet Patterns, I stared at the directions long enough to decide to sew one. Then another. Then another. 3 little girls were in need of birthday dresses and this pattern was SO easy and fast!
I didn't time myself sewing the dresses, but I can tell you that I sewed 2 of the dresses on Sunday... in between going to church, driving to my sister-in-law's and spending the early afternoon celebrating Baby Girl's birthday, coming home and caring for 4 children, cooking supper, keeping Farmer company as he worked on his mobile pump jack (oil, here we come!), and folding a mountain of laundry (yes, an honest to goodness mountain). The dresses really are that quick to make!
I used fabric from Sarah Jane's collection as it seemed very birthday-ish for Baby Girl!
My sister likes to dress her daughter in more subtle colors while I'm all about the pinks and the girlish styles (after 3 boys, can you blame me?), so this is my niece's birthday dress. She has the blondest hair and such beautiful blue eyes that I think she'll shine in it.
It's becoming tradition to sew birthday dresses and I'm so happy to get to sew one for my newest niece who will be turning 1 this winter! It's more of a light weight dress, but they live in a warm state so winter doesn't mean a thing there.
Speaking of winter, on the Christmas front, this is what was accomplished this week: Felt Broccoli.
I used this pattern and it was about the fastest felt food that has come together. I'll add in some butter pats when I give this to Baby Girl on Christmas. Next up: more strawberries and cake!
So this was my Sunday Sewin'... I love days of rest when you can work on what you love without feeling like you should be busy doing other things!
